Montana Yoga Retreat 2018

Join us on retreat!  Retreats are different than a “vacation”, as you do not have to plan meals, excursions and schedules.  Your basic needs are met and a flexible schedule that honors the natural rhythms of the day provides balance, nourishment and rest. Yoga retreats also offer an opportunity to explore the deeper and often unfamiliar aspects of yoga and meditation,

allowing you to reach a greater level of self-
understanding and respect.  Sharing these practices and experiences with a group increases our awareness and empathy as we interact with others, and often leads to lifelong friendships.  Retreats are also a powerful reminder of how important it is to remain consistent in our practices, whatever form those may take.

Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park

Our retreat in May 2017 was such a wonderful experience that I booked dates for June 2018!  We will return to the beautiful Walking Lightly Ranch, which borders more than 300 acres of protected pine forest and contains extensive (gentle) hiking trails, multiple lakes, magical encounters with wildlife and is near the breathtaking Glacier National Park!

The peaceful yoga studio overlooks a quiet pond and mountain vista. All of the organic food is grown and prepared on-site. The charming town of Whitefish is nearby, along with optional outdoor activities such as kayaking, white water rafting and horseback riding (extra cost for these

activities).

Highlights of the retreat:

  • Daily meditation or yoga nidra
  • Morning vinyasa classes or workshops
  • Afternoon restorative practices
  • Daily on-site nature immersions
  • Day trip to Glacier National Park where we will drive the “Going to the Sun Road”, hike and perhaps take the ranger-guided classic bus ride.
  • Optional excursions to the quaint town of Whitefish and other local activities.   You will also find kayaking and biking nearby if you would like to do this in your free time!
  • Organic locally grown food prepared with love by the on-site staff.  Sample meal:  homemade sourdough bread, fresh green salad with local apple balsamic vinaigrette and minestrone soup, with homemade ice cream for dessert.  Fruit, premium coffee and teas are available all day long.  You are welcome to bring your own snacks, but we eat well and have never gone hungry on retreat!

Guests have the option of extending their stay prior to or following the retreat, for an extra fee; you must arrange this directly with the ranch.

Lodging Options:

Guest Barn, Courtesy Adam Strick Photography

Both the guest barn and the lodge are comfortable and quiet.   Most of the rooms in the barn have a private bath; most of the rooms in the lodge share one bathroom per two rooms.  To simplify the organization of the retreat, I am now offering first-come, first-serve room/private bathroom requests.  A $200 non-refundable deposit AND submission of a reservation form will be required in order to reserve a room in your name.  If you cancel your reservation due to illness or an emergency, I will honor any monies you have paid Shivatree Yoga towards a future retreat or training, classes or workshops; and if the

minimum number of people has been met, I will refund your tuition within 90 days following the retreat.  However, if you have to cancel for any reason, please try to find a friend to go in your place in order to recover your investment more immediately and to maintain the minimum number of guests.  Until the minimum is met, your single commitment (or lack thereof) has the power to solidify/cancel a retreat, so please be mindful of how your actions have the potential to affect others.  In Hawaii we have the tendency to commit to things at the very last minute, unfortunately, I often have to

make a commitment and submit deposit to the retreat center 8 to 12 months in advance!

Once registration is received, NO refunds will be provided due to a change of mind…I rely on your word to make the required minimum set forth by retreat centers and cancellations can cost me thousands of dollars, which becomes an energetic and financial burden that I am not willing to carry.  I offer retreats because taking this time out to slow down, practice, connect and be in nature has the power to radically shift our perspectives and rejuvenate us so completely that we can go back into our normal routines with more energy, enthusiasm and health.   They also provide an awesome opportunity to reconnect to people you have met within the yoga community and to establish the kind of friendships that go beyond the surface mundane quality of our lives, to feed us on a much deeper level.  This is why I LOVE leading them!

All rooms have queen beds, except one room in the lodge.  There is also a suite available in the barn, which contains a bedroom, bathroom, sitting area and kitchen.

  • Private room:  $1500
  • Shared room (you must sign up with a friend/partner to register at this rate):  $1400/person
  • Suite:  $3,400 (total price for two adults)
